Restaurant & Gallery since 1968

The Old Fire Engine House is a beautiful, three storey Georgian house in central Ely, near the Cathedral. The house was built in the mid 18th Century and Ely's horse-drawn fire engine was kept there at the turn of the century, a photo of which can now be seen hanging above the fire in the bar

The gallery has been exhibiting established and emerging artists since 1968 and December will see our final preview and individual exhibitions in the dedicated gallery space on the first floor.

This gallery space features large windows overlooking Ely Cathedral and Palace Green and from February 2023, will instead host an extensive and changing selection of contemporary work for sale, extending throughout the entire house.
